Apple’s first Touch MacBook Pro uses a tandem OLED — pre-orders are open, it ships November 6
Newsroom Oct 28: MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, 14- and 16-inch, M5 Pro from $2,899. A separate 14-inch M6 model starts at $1,999. Both arrive Friday, November 6.

Apple Newsroom dated the Touch laptop October 28. The product name on that page is MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display. Pre-orders opened the same day on apple.com/store. Availability is Friday, November 6, in Apple Stores and at authorized resellers. A day earlier, October 27, Apple announced a separate 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 that keeps the Liquid Retina XDR panel. Those are two lines, not one SKU with two names.
What Apple printed for PROLED XDR
- Tandem OLED: two self-illuminating pixel layers. Apple’s claim, not a lab result from this desk: “the world’s best laptop display.”
- Up to 2000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness. Contrast ratio printed as 10,000,000:1. ProMotion 10Hz to 120Hz.
- Color: P3 and Adobe RGB in one default preset. Apple says more than 80 percent Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR video work.
- Touch on a Mac for the first time. Existing apps work because “macOS automatically translates touches into clicks.” A redesigned hinge is there for stability; video stabilization smooths the camera feed when you touch the display on a call.
- Dynamic Island on Mac: Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI.
- Chips: M5 Pro and M5 Max, not M6. Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC, MagSafe, headphone jack. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Up to 24 hours of battery life, Apple’s figure.

The M6 14-inch, from the October 27 release: 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, Dual 16-core Neural Engine, 16GB unified memory standard and configurable up to 32GB, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, up to 24 hours of battery. Apple’s comparison copy: up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster AI workloads than M5. Space black and silver. That machine is the value SKU if you do not need OLED or Touch. This site’s Tech & Gear pages cover phones, watches, and audio — there is no Worth it review for either new MacBook Pro, and none on actuallyworthit.com.
