Apex Season 31 is Cipher: Crypto’s drone runs on batteries, Strongholds alarm the lobby
EA’s Oct 29 post names the season Cipher. Crypto gets Sentry Mode and a one-button EMP. Akimbo Wingman and Strongholds are the loot rewrite. No calendar day is attached.

Electronic Arts dated a Cipher post October 29. The season name is in the headline: Apex Legends: Cipher. The deadliest weapon, EA’s copy says, is information. This desk already ran the October 20 Ranked roadmap. That brief is bans, Lobby Tier, and Season 32 ranks. This one is the kit and the loot.
Crypto’s rework, as EA printed it
A firmware upgrade from his sister Mila switches Crypto “from passive to aggressive intel-gathering.” The Surveillance Drone now runs on batteries instead of a cooldown, so it can be picked up and redeployed without a long wait. Park it and it enters Sentry Mode, tagging enemies in sight for the squad. The EMP Ultimate “can now be deployed with the press of a button.” EA does not print a battery timer, a tag range, or the old cooldown next to the new one.
Akimbo Wingman and Strongholds
- Akimbo Wingman: dual-wielded revolvers. EA’s line is precision and firepower, not a damage table.
- Strongholds: “the evolution of Care Packages.” Raid one for crate weapons, corrupted attachments, and EVO for the whole squad. Opening takes time and trips an alarm that tells everyone nearby where you are. They spawn with cover and Hardlight.
Revenant and Lifeline
Revenant: shorter Ultimate cooldown, quicker Tactical. New Upgrades: extend the Ultimate with every knock, silence nearby enemies after a Shadow Pounce, or refresh Shadow Pounce automatically while an enemy is marked. Lifeline: reduced cooldown on D.O.C., self-heal while gliding. New Upgrades: Ultimate cooldown reduction, a shield while you revive a teammate, and improved flight mobility. EA does not print the new numbers.
Ranked on this page restates Diamond-and-up Legend bans: one vote each, higher vote share means a greater chance that Legend is banned. The October 20 roadmap is still the fuller Ranked file. Cipher Seasonal Packs can drop a Mythic Volt, Cryptic Core, plus seasonal skins for Crypto, Wraith, Gibraltar, Revenant, and Horizon. EA’s asterisk: not available in all regions.
Season 32’s map job
The Road Ahead check-in on this post names the Season 32 major map update: Kings Canyon Evolved, “a completely reworked map with numerous new, remixed, and touched up POIs in early 2027.” That calendar window matches the Ranked roadmap. Cipher itself still has no day. EA’s live-service caveat sits at the bottom: the announcement may change.
