Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 is $1,299.99 at Best Buy — US street date was November 1

The Verge Oct 27: Best Buy exclusive, Intel Arc G3 Extreme only, $1,299.99. Acer’s US page lists TMR sticks and an 8-inch 120Hz IPS panel. May coverage said carbon-film sticks. This desk has not tested it. Verdict: WAIT.

Jess Weatherbed at The Verge dated the US plan October 27. Acer’s first official US gaming handheld, the Predator Atlas 8, would go on sale exclusively at Best Buy on November 1 at $1,299.99. Only the Intel Arc G3 Extreme configuration is in that writeup, not the cheaper Arc G3 SKU from May. HotHardware, same day, says Acer confirmed the date, retailer, and $1,299.99 price by email, with 24GB of LPDDR5X and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD on the Best Buy listing it checked. Pre-orders had sold out; Acer told The Verge online orders would reopen November 1 alongside in-store stock. That street date was yesterday. This desk has not held the unit.

What Acer’s US page prints now

  • Windows 11 Home. “Up to” an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and “up to” Intel Arc B390 graphics, XeSS 3, “up to 12” Xe-cores.
  • 8-inch WUXGA touch panel, 1920×1200, 16:10, 120Hz, VRR, 500 nits peak, 100% sRGB. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC. A 0.45 mm 9H matte screen protector is on that page too.
  • Full-size TMR joysticks, Hall-effect analog triggers with a micro-switch / analog flip, rear macros, PredatorSense button, fingerprint power button.
  • Dual Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UHS-II microSD, 3.5 mm jack. “Up to 80 Whrs” battery, with a 60 Wh option “on select models.” Dual-fan AeroBlade cooling; Acer’s claim is 10%+ airflow from an 89-blade metal fan. That is Acer’s figure, not a measurement from this desk.
  • Two months of Xbox Game Pass Premium on the US page. German Acer press on October 26 listed two months of Game Pass Premium and three months of PC Game Pass. Those are two regional offers, not one.

Acer’s US page also prints “up to 32GB LPDDR5x” and “up to 1TB” PCIe Gen 4 NVMe. HotHardware’s Best Buy SKU is 24GB / 512GB. Those can both be true: “up to” on a product family page, one config at the US retailer. This desk is not inventing a second US SKU.

The stick spec that still disagrees

Sean Hollister’s May 28 Computex file on The Verge said the Atlas 8 would not have Hall-effect or TMR sticks — “just carbon film ones that might eventually drift.” Acer’s current US product page, The Verge’s October 27 launch brief, and Acer’s German October 26 press all print TMR joysticks. This page is not picking a winner from a May spec sheet versus a shipping product page. If you buy one, the live unit and Acer’s current spec sheet are the check, not the May preview.

The Verge’s October 27 piece also notes the $1,299.99 price “is the same price as the Xbox Ally X20.” That is a price match from The Verge, not a review of either handheld at this desk. There is no Predator Atlas 8, Ally X20, or Steam Deck review on respawnhq.net or actuallyworthit.com. The Worth it hub is still https://respawnhq.net/tech.
