MW4 weekend patches: Search and Destroy XP triples, and the bomb-stretch fix is rolled back
Infinity Ward’s Oct 24–25 notes on the official launch-patch page. Hijack spawns, a vanishing DMZ exfil heli, and a Gunsmith cash bug landed Saturday. Sunday triples S&D and Collateral kill XP from 100 to 300.

Infinity Ward is appending post-launch notes to the same Modern Warfare 4 launch-patch page that already carried the October 21 maps-and-modes brief. October 24 and October 25 are the first weekend slices. They are bug and XP notes, not a weapon-damage table. Call of Duty Updates posted that a small update was rolling to all platforms and linked that page. The maps-and-modes launch brief already sits on this desk from October 22. This is the weekend follow-up.
October 25: XP and the bomb-stretch rollback
Sunday’s header says the team is looking at potential weapon tuning for a future update, with no names and no numbers. The play change that does have numbers: XP for one kill in Search and Destroy and Collateral moves from 100 to 300. Infinity Ward says it is looking at XP earn rates in Multiplayer and is starting with those two modes.
The same Sunday block rolls back a previous Search and Destroy “bomb stretching” fix. The notes say that fix stopped players picking up the bomb in certain positions. Stretching comes back as a known problem; Infinity Ward says it will address it again in a later update. Collateral also had a bomb that could disappear after players interacted with it — that one is listed as fixed.
- Xbox and PC: full Korean language setting could not launch Black Ops 7 from Modern Warfare 4. Fixed.
- Gunsmith now shows weapon stats on locked attachments. Prestige reset is updated so loadouts clear.
- Patriot XMR, Oden, and Cronen Squall were incorrectly classified as Battle Rifles in various places. Fixed.
- First in-match loadout edit could briefly freeze the game. Fixed.
- Announcer intro now plays at the start of Frontline and Hijack.
October 25 DMZ
Critical Extraction: players could bypass the Hospital Elevator objective. That hole is closed. Drill Charge damage against enemy Colossus is decreased — no amount is printed. Buying saved builds from modified blueprints could charge the full cost of the original blueprint. Overflow Stash: you could attempt to deploy with items still in it; the note now says operators must reconcile that stash before the next deployment. Breaking New Ground has “several” unspecified onboarding fixes.
October 24: Hijack spawns and the vanishing heli
Saturday’s pass is the one Nintendo Life quoted in full from this same page. Hijack spawn locations and respawn timing are improved — the note does not list the new points. Search and Destroy could be defused from an unintended distance or position. Rooftops: the Deathstalker killstreak could leave the map. Collateral: Favorite Operators were not the operator you spawned with. Portable Radar now shows the minimap in Hardcore.
DMZ, Saturday: party leaders could pull teammates out without consent and mark those Active Duty Operators MIA. The exfil helicopter could disappear while the squad was still inside. More Hajin rock-stuck spots, a wrong Dark Zone “Obtain Code” marker, an FOB out-of-bounds, oversized or wrong data on looted dog tags and bounties, Shopping Mission AI spawning too often, and the Philanthropist Order on page 19 ignoring weekly challenges finished before that order unlocked. “Various exploits” are closed without names.
Gunsmith, Saturday: applying some camos or reticles in the DMZ Gunsmith could deduct DMZ cash. DMZ weapon builds could show as usable in core Multiplayer. Prestiging in Gunsmith did not reset that weapon’s attachments. An incorrect attachment on the M4 could break the muzzle visually. Bullets could float inside empty or partly used magazines on the La Sombra Venenosa blueprint.
